Charles III. Accession and Coronation

Charles became King of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles gave his first speech to the nation, paying tribute to his mother and announcing the appointment of his elder son, William, as Prince of Wales.

The Accession Council publicly proclaimed Charles as king in a televised ceremony.

Charles was crowned King at Westminster Abbey in the first coronation in seven decades.
